At HydRx, we take pride in our water. Our mission is to purify and package various types of water utilizing advance purification methods to produce water of the highest quality, exceeding industry standards and regulatory requirements. On this page you will find analytical data for each individual lot of our water produced, as well as our annual chemical and radiological testing.
WHAT WE TEST FOR:
CONDUCTIVITY
Conductivity is an indicator of the overall chemical purity of water. Most compounds that dissolve in water conduct electricity. Therefore, the conductivity or resistivity of water can be measured to evaluate its purity. The lower the conductivity (or higher the resistivity) the purer the water. The theoretical maximum resistance of water is 26,000,000 ohms. However, this is unattainable. The highest resistance practically attainable is 18,300,000 ohms. This is equivalent to approximately .055 us of conductivity. The standard for USP Purified water is 1.3 us @ 25o C. The EPA recommends that municipal drinking water have less than 500 ppm of total dissolved solids which is approximately equivalent to 1000 us of conductivity.
TOTAL COLIFORM
Coliform bacteria are present in the digestive systems of all warm-blooded animals including humans. Although most coliforms are non-pathogenic, there are some strains of E. Coli that can cause disease in humans. It is required that bottled water be tested for total coliforms. If water is positive for total coliforms it must be further tested for presence of E. Coli.
HETEROTROPHIC PLATE COUNT
Heterotrophic plate count (HPC) is a measurement of colony forming units (CFU) of microorganisms in water. These are non-specific microorganisms that grow on carbon based culture media. The HPC is a general indicator of the biological purity of water. The guideline for safe drinking water is HPC <500 cfu/ml.
DISSOLVED OXYGEN CONTENT
Oxygen naturally dissolves into water in contact with the atmosphere which is about 21% oxygen. Dissolved oxygen content is used as a general indicator of water quality of surface water that must have adequate dissolved oxygen to support aquatic life. Most tap water contains about 10 mg/l of dissolved oxygen. Purified water often contains less dissolved oxygen, about 6-7 mg/l, because some oxygen is lost in purification processes. It is possible to increase dissolved oxygen in water.
Annual Testing
In addition to specific lot testing, HydRx also does annual chemical and radiological testing on our packaged water. This testing is a broad analysis of possible contaminates. Test results are linked below.
